Week 3 Bets

Updated: Sep 22, 2023

Week 3 is here. See what bets we're riding with all weekend.

Week 2 has already passed us by, and we are moments away from Thursday Night Football kicking off Week 3 of the NFL Season. TRO is here to bring you what bets we like the most (and are personally riding with actual money). Stick with us all season long as we track our record on the Green Zone, and try to come out better than we started.

Picks Against the Spread:

via Pro Football Focus

1) San Francisco 49ers (-10.5) over the New York Giants

San Francisco is a far superior team than New York in every aspect of the game, especially with Saquon Barkley not playing for the Giants due to his ankle injury. Even though it's a short week and Thursday Night Football is weird, the 49ers should have no problem manhandling the G men.

2) Pittsburgh Steelers (+2.5) versus Las Vegas Raiders

We think actually think Pittsburgh is going to win this game. They have the defense to frustrate Jimmy Garoppolo, and look for this to be a perfect opportunity to get their offensive playcalling issues situated. The Steelers will get back to establishing the run, and should meet this cover.

1) Over 54 Points scored - Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota Vikings

Two teams with extremely potent offenses, and questionable defenses, that are absolutely desperate for a win. This game should be a high-scoring offensive affair and should be wildly entertaining to watch. Hammer the over.

1) Eddie Pineiro OVER 1.5 Field Goals made

Week 2, Eddie P hit 3/3 field goals against the Saints. Week 1, went 1/1 against Atlanta. The Panthers offense has been struggling, but the pressure is on for it to score more points. While Bryce Young deserves to work through rookie woes and is undoubtedly the starter of this team, he's likely out this week and Andy Dalton's veteran experience might help Carolina move the ball against the weakest defense they will have faced thus far. Pineiro is statistically the most accurate kicker in the NFL (over 95% success rate), and he'll have the opportunities to kick at least a couple field goals in Seattle.

1) 6 point Teaser - (a) Tennessee Titans (+3.5 against Cleveland Browns to +9.5); (b) Detroit Lions (-3.0 against Atlanta Falcons to +3.0)

We honestly think that Tennessee is more than capable of beating the Cleveland Browns, who are without Nick Chubb. The Titans have been surprisingly stout on defense, and Deshaun Watson has been inefficient since returning to football. Even if Tennessee can't pull out a win, teasing them up to +9.5 casts a huge security blanket. This should be a close game.

Similar to the Titans, we think Detroit should win their game against the Falcons. The Lions are a better team, and Atlanta has kind of escaped with two wins the past two weeks that just as easily could have been losses. Detroit might win this game rather comfortably, but if they manage to lose, it'll be extremely close, and the Tease should account for that.
